Last Updated: February 26th, 2025

1. Introduction

Welcome to QOOMA (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our mobile application “QOOMA” (the “App”), an instant messaging service. By using QOOMA, you agree to the terms of this policy.

2. Information We Collect

a. Information You Provide
  • Account Details: Phone number, display name, email address (optional), and profile picture.
  • Messages: Content of messages, photos, videos, files, and other media you send or receive (end-to-end encrypted; see Section 6).
  • Contacts: If you enable contact synchronization, we collect hashed phone numbers to connect you with other QOOMA users.
b. Automatically Collected Information
  • Device Data: IP address, device model, operating system, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
  • Usage Data: Timestamps, features used, interaction patterns, and crash reports.
  • Metadata: Message sender/receiver details, timestamps, and type of media shared (not message content).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to authenticate your account and deliver messages, improve app performance, troubleshoot issues, and develop new features. Additionally, we send service-related notifications (e.g., security alerts) and prevent fraud, comply with laws, and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your data. However, we may share information with third-party service providers assisting with hosting, analytics, or customer support (e.g., AWS, Google Analytics). In cases of legal compliance, we may respond to legal requests (e.g., court orders). If QOOMA undergoes business transfers like mergers or acquisitions, users will be notified.

5. Data Retention

Messages: Encrypted content is deleted from our servers once delivered. Account Data: Retained until you delete your account. Metadata may be kept for legal obligations.

6. Security

We implement end-to-end encryption to ensure messages are encrypted in transit and at rest, allowing only you and recipients to decrypt them. Our secure storage follows industry-standard safeguards. Users are responsible for safeguarding their device and account credentials.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may access, correct, or delete your data via app settings, request a copy of your data, or object to processing. You may also opt out of non-essential communications. Contact us at support@qooma.org for requests.

8. Children’s Privacy

QOOMA is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Parents may contact us to delete unintended collections.

9. International Transfers
